VIOLA KATOTAS
Viola’s experience in mediation began over 20 years ago as a police officer. She quickly acquired the skills of a mediator, and is now a Nationally Accredited Mediator.
Viola's background as a police member, police prosecutor and now Barrister has provided her with exceptional skills in alternative dispute resolution as well as skills in complaints management. As a police officer, communication was a key feature of dealing with volatile situations and people. Viola attended many family violence matters where it was important to speak in a manner appropriate to the situation.
Negotiating with other parties requires a high level of communication skills in order to come to a resolution rather than heading to a trial.
Viola has successfully worked with diverse groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Islanders, eastern European backgrounds as well as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex or Questioning (LGBTIQ).
Viola is a patient, confident and effective communicator who values integrity and has sound interpersonal skills and judgment, honed by many years of working as a member of the police force and the Victorian Bar.

Viola is unlike any other mediator with her diverse experience and background. She brings expertise that has developed over 20 years in a variety of roles.
